During the week 20-24 June 2022 INSULAE partners gathered in Bornholm lighthouse to celebrate 3 years of the project. The partners had the opportunity to visit various RES installation sites which contribute to the high share (75%) of domestic green electricity. More specifically they visited:
- The Bornholm Campus where the rooftop solar PV- battery microgrid is installed powering the 2 EV fast-chargers
- The Aakirkeby solar PV and wind parks and the power substation including a 1MWh battery energy storage system.
- The Aakirkeby district heating woodchip biomass plant (8 MW)
- The biogas CHP plant
During the second day of the meeting the work package leaders presented the efforts and expected activities in each WP during the 2nd period (M19-36) to the project’s EC project officer. The project’s participation and contribution to BRIDGE activities were highlighted. Additionally, partners Bornholms Energi & Forsyning and DTU – Technical University of Denmark showed the ongoing clean energy projects on the island and the INSULAE progress in the respective Bornholm pilots.
The last day included the Investment Planning Tool (IPT) demonstration and a discussion on next steps regarding replication plans and further exploitation of the project. In the next months the roll-out of the IPT is expected and training events to EU stakeholders and potential users are foreseen.
